Do I dare to sign up for Nanowrimo this November? After all, I will actually be working (unlike last year). Of course, if I go for the evening shifts a few more days a week, I might have more days off.
If I’m still able to write in the mornings, all will be well. Of course, it means that some things may have to go by the wayside. Hm, maybe I should think about making stuff in advance and freezing it. Or maybe have the hubby make dinner on the late nights I work.
If I am going to do Nano again, I’m going to need a solid idea to keep me going for 50 thousand words or more. Last year’s quest and love triangles story worked, but so far I haven’t gotten anything for 2007.
Maybe I *will* go with the reworking of the fantasy story I tried to write back in my undergrad days. Does having tried to write the story once before and failed count as working on it before November, I wonder? Maybe not if I start fresh.
I *could* try going the fanfic route, but I don’t know how long I could keep going with that. I’d need something beyond just the standard plotlines I’ve used, which are fine for short shorts, but probably couldn’t carry me through 50K.
I could also try doing something with the ideas for CtL characters I’ve gotten. And Ken and Ciara are like old friends, so I’ll be able to get inside their heads easily enough. Just have to see what sorts of types of characters and gatherings the Lost have, I suppose.
The hubby suggested trying to do a sequel to 2006's Nano story. It’s a possibility, but all I really have for that is the idea to do a Tenkai Nankobo thing with my previous protagonist. Not really a terribly engaging plot. =)
